Those Nights at Rachel's, often abbreviated to TNAR, is a horror strategy game based off the popular series Five Nights at Freddy's by Scott Cawthon. The game was developed by Nikson, with help from Expand and Smashing_Renders. It takes place in a rival company's (to Freddy's) restaurant known as Doug 'n' Rachel's, in which the player, a newly hired night-guard, must defend himself and watch the animatronics in the building for a traditional work-week at night, supposedly as so to prevent The Thing from escaping. After finishing, he receives his paycheck and is promoted instantly, but suffers from nightmares over the weekend, as shown in the Night 5 cut-scene. It is unclear is he takes over the day-shift and another night-guard is hired, or if he remains the night-guard.
While listening to the Phone Guy's calls and messages, if the player does not mute the phone, they will find out crucial backstory about D'n'R's history and conflict with Freddy's. Additionally, a space on the wall behind the door monitor has a newspaper clipping updated daily to reveal more lore surrounding the events behind the game.
Those Nights at Rachel's was released in full on February 5, 2016, and a 'Hard Mode' was released the day after. The sequel came out in 2017.
